A look at how different braking systems might affect a hazardous situation.

  Cars with traditional brakes are more likely to be involved in rear-end collisions than ABS-equipped cars. ABS enables drivers to brake and steer around the car ahead, preventing rear-end collisions. But this maneuver often causes the ABS-equipped car to swerve off the road, where it is in danger of either rolling over or striking a fixed object such as a parked car or tree.
